    After the war, on 1st January , the Hospital amalgamated with the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital in Moorfields and the Royal Westminster Ophthalmic Hospital in High Holborn. It became the Central Branch of the Moorfields, Westminster and Central Eye Hospital, which joined the NHS in as a postgraduate teaching hospital. The London Hospital (now the Royal London Hospital), founded in , became Britain’s largest voluntary hospital, and remains one of London’s largest hospitals. Its story is told in the crypt of St Philip’s Church, though exhibits on dentistry, surgery, paediatrics, nursing, forensics and the NHS, and a number of short films.
